A Conversation with Melissa Jones
We’re thrilled to introduce you to the newest member of DRA’s Board of Directors: Melissa Jones.
Melissa Jones is the executive vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer for CSAA Insurance Group. Under her leadership, the company has achieved a perfect score in the Human Rights Campaign’s corporate equality index for LGBTQ+ workplace equality, and she cofounded the company’s Women’s Professional Network.

How did you first learn about DRA?
My company, CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, has a long history of providing philanthropic support for DRA which came about initially when a customer reached out to DRA about an accessibility issue and DRA contacted us to assist. DRA was impressed with our response, and we were impressed with the work that DRA was doing, and it’s been a great relationship ever since.
Why did you decide to join DRA’s board of directors?
I am deeply moved by the organization’s mission and the impact it has on the lives of individuals with disabilities. I have a personal connection to the disability community, and I wanted to contribute my skills and resources to help advance the cause of disability rights. Being on the board allows me to be part of a team that is making a real difference in the world.
Why do you think DRA’s work is urgent and important?
DRA’s work is urgent and important because accessibility issues are still pervasive for people with disabilities. Despite significant progress, there are still many barriers that limit people’s full participation in education, employment, and public life. DRA’s legal advocacy and systemic change efforts are crucial in breaking down these barriers and ensuring that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else.
What aspect of DRA’s work are you most proud of?
I am most proud of DRA’s ability to achieve systemic change. The organization has a track record of winning landmark cases that not only benefit individual clients but also set important legal precedents that improve the lives of countless people with disabilities. The impact of these cases is far-reaching and long-lasting, and it’s inspiring to see the tangible results of DRA’s efforts.
Anything else you want to share?
I am very encouraged by DRA’s continued drive to push for a more inclusive society and am committed to supporting DRA’s mission and vital work.
