Uber is settling a discrimination suit by blind passengers with an agreement to carry the passengers’ guide dogs in their vehicles and to fire drivers who refuse
Uber will now be a lot stricter against drivers that refuse to transport blind passengers and their service animals, and the National Federation of the Blind will be checking up on the company’s efforts.
Uber and advocates for the blind have reached a lawsuit settlement in which the ride-hailing company agrees to require that existing and new drivers confirm they understand their legal obligations to transport riders with guide dogs or other service animals
Uber has agreed to pay the National Federation of the Blind $225,000 over three years to settle a lawsuit alleging discrimination against blind riders
