Josh Rosenthal joined Disability Rights Advocates in 2022 as a Senior Staff Attorney and became Supervising Attorney in 2023. Before joining DRA, Mr. Rosenthal represented people with serious mental illness at Disability Rights New York, the state’s protection and advocacy system. While there, he monitored conditions for people with disabilities who were hospitalized or incarcerated in New York and represented adults and children with disabilities in class action lawsuits that challenged the state’s failure to provide community-based services. Mr. Rosenthal was also a senior staff attorney at Children’s Rights, where he litigated class action lawsuits on behalf of youth in foster care and juvenile justice systems across the country. Before Children’s Rights, he clerked for the Honorable Judith M. Barzilay at the U.S. Court of International Trade and he was a visiting attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights.

Mr. Rosenthal received his B.A. with distinction from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and his J.D. from New York University School of Law.
