Jameelah joined Disability Rights Advocates as a Ralph Santiago Abascal Fellow in September 2022.

Jameelah received her J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she was a senior staff editor of the Hasting’s Gender and the Law Journal, President of the Women of Color Collective, and on the board of Hastings Reproductive Justice Lawyering Organization. Jameelah also received the Public Interest Achievement Award for her volunteer work in the Children’s Welfare Clinic.

Jameelah’s experience includes interning with Disability Rights California where she worked on cases involving incarcerated people with disabilities and fought against civil rights violations in prisons. Jameelah also interned with the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley in the Health Department. In this role, she attended psychiatric hearings and provided assistance to attorneys representing people with mental health disabilities.

Jameelah received her B.A. in 2017 from the University of California, Los Angeles where she majored in Sociology, and minored in Disability Studies.

Jameelah is passionate about advocating for and empowering marginalized and communities.
