Charles V. (Chuck) McAvoy retired in 2010 as the Chair of the Kaiser Permanente Employees with Disabilities Association and has continued to work with a number of business and community organizations on issues pertaining to people with disabilities. Particular emphasis has been on employment disparities, healthcare disparities and access to healthcare for the disability community. McAvoy served for 1 year as Board president of Access Northern California, providing resources for outdoor recreation for people with disabilities. Chuck is the former Board of Directors president of the Oakland based AXIS Dance Company, a world leader in the field of integrated dance. (Currently serving on the AXIS BOD) McAvoy is the recipient of the AT&T Telesis Award for community service. In 2010 Chuck established Kinetic Designs where he does metal sculpture and custom metal design. He has served two terms on the Community Advisory Panel for the Kaiser Research Program on Genes, Environment and Health and also serves on the RPGEH Bioethics Advisory Panel. . In addition McAvoy is on the Center for Transdisciplinary ELSI Research in Translational Genomics Advisory Board (CT2G Center).
