DRA provides free legal representation to people with the full spectrum of disabilities in complex, system-changing, class-action cases. Founded in 1993, DRA has taken on and won hundreds of cases—achieving dramatic improvements for people with disabilities seeking health care, employment, transportation, education, disaster preparedness planning, voting, and housing. DRA is seeking up to four Summer Law Clerks who share our vision of creating a society that strives towards justice and fairness for all.

Position Overview

DRA is seeking passionate, talented, hard-working law students to join our dynamic, results-oriented team. Reporting to a supervising attorney, Summer Law Clerks have the opportunity to work with DRA’s attorneys in all aspects of high impact litigation, including case investigations, case development, law and motion practice, discovery, and court appearances. Summers will gain experience in factual and legal research, drafting memoranda, writing portions of briefs, assisting with propounding and reviewing discovery, reviewing expert reports, and other relevant tasks as needed. The position offers the opportunity for frequent interaction with attorneys and staff, and both formal and informal career-building feedback and guidance on all work. DRA’s focus on thorough training and supportive mentorship provides an excellent opportunity to learn about litigation in a supportive public interest environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Commitment to DRA’s mission to advance equal rights and opportunities for people with all types of disabilities nationwide
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Strong work ethic paired with the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and circumstances
  • Law student who will be enrolled in your second year of law school in fall of 2017
