Disability Rights Advocates (DRA) is a ten-lawyer public interest law firm located in Berkeley, California that specializes in civil rights litigation on behalf of people with disabilities. Focusing on high impact class actions, DRA's mission is to protect the rights of people with all types of disabilities and improve access to health care, housing, education, transportation and employment.

Internships and Clinical Positions for Current Law Students

Disability Rights Advocates, a growing civil rights public interest law firm in downtown Berkeley, hosts Internships and Clinical Positions for current law students who wish to gain experience while earning law school credit. Applicants should have spectacular communication and critical thinking skills and be dedicated to protecting the rights of people with disabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Current law student with excellent academic achievement, a demonstrated commitment to public interest/civil rights issues, and a desire to work on high impact litigation on behalf of people with disabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and commitment to providing culturally competent services.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and responsible.
  • Familiarity with on-line research tools and conversant with Microsoft Office and WordPerfect.
